How to Attract Your Ideal Customers & Partners
Does this sound all too familiar?
I'm sure you can remember a time when you've had a less than ideal business partner or customer.
Spend a moment and get an image of that person in your head-that person who completely drains you; that person you have to "keep selling" to remain involved; that person you're literally dragging and pulling along; and that person who leaves you feeling bad after every interaction.
I've been there many times and I tell you it's awful - there's nothing fun about it. My energy's drained. I start feeling bad about my business and where it's going. I'm even left wondering, is there a better way?
For me, with three kids, and plenty on my plate (which I'm sure you can relate to), I certainly have no interest in babysitting an adult.
How I discovered my muse...
About a year ago, a key experience happened that shifted my mindset - clarifying to me that I do have a choice about who I work with.
I met this interesting woman while my children played at a local children's museum. Within an hour, as only women can do, we shared so much about ourselves and what was important to us. My antenna was buzzing - I just knew she'd be great fun to work with, so I casually mentioned my business, and summoned the courage to invite her for coffee.
I shared this story with my coach, Beth Davis. Beth's words stuck with me...
"Kim, imagine what your life would be like professionally if you only worked with women like this. She exemplifies you - she's fun, clearly focused on being with her children and that being a priority, yet it's also important that she have other things going on in her life-for personal and professional reasons. Kim... she is a metromom."
The light bulb went off! This woman, this metromom, is who I've always been drawn to. She's self-motivated, dynamic, fun, and she wants a lot of richness in her life.
In that moment I knew that to move forward with my own direct sales business (and enjoy myself) I would only work with metromoms.
"The metromom" became the filter through which I began to meet people, to prospect and to surround myself.
What changed for me in this past year is nothing short of amazing.
First of all, I'm a living example of the Law of Attraction-simply stated: like attracts like.
Great women are flocking into my life. I meet them networking, through my kids' schools, and as referrals. My relationships with these women are rich, meaningful and supportive. Our energy is contagious, leading to more relationships, continuing the cycle.
Not only has this year been great fun for me BUT I've seen my business volume triple. The year I worked with anyone who had a pulse, you can imagine what my business was like. This year, while keeping my antenna tuned-in to metromoms, I've seen a direct correlation in the growth of my business.
Who do you really want to work with?
Who's that ideal person you want to grow a business with, support, and speak with multiple times a day?
Think of the best qualities of your favorite partners and customers to create a muse for yourself. Carry that vision of your muse with you always and share it with others.
This clarity will make it easier to communicate to others about the type of person you'd like to meet. Ask them "who do you know who has A, B and C qualities?" I believe having this clarity will allow you to attract those business partners into your life that you want-leading you to achieve much greater success as you move forward in your business.
Remember...you're the CEO of YOUR own company, so...Take charge of who you allow into your life.
Set strong boundaries and create intentions of the people you want to work with.
I'd love to hear some examples of who your muse is. Please share them with me at metromom@metromom.com..
